H & G Simonds Ltd, Bridge Street, Reading, Berkshire.

Founded in 1768. Registered in November 1885.

Acquired by Courage & Co. Ltd in 1960 to form Courage, Barclay & Simonds Ltd. The Reading brewery became known as Courage (Central) Ltd.

Brewing ceased here in 1979 when the Courage (Worton Grange) brewery opened. The Bridge Street brewery was demolished in 1983 and the site has been redeveloped as the Oracle shopping centre.
