Registered March 1894 to acquire: John H Rowell & Sons. A new company was registered in 1896 to acquire John M.Bruce, wine and spirit merchants; William Turnbull & Co, Ferry Brewery South Shields and Gilpin & Co, mineral water manufacturers, Newcastle.

Some of Turnbull's houses were acquired by Archibald Arrol & Sons Ltd.

Acquired by Newcastle Breweries Ltd. 1959.
