Robert Monk, Sun Inn, Church Square, Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

The Sun Inn dated back to at least 1791, when it was being run by Thomas Sheppard. Joseph Tirrell, in 1822, and Simeon White, 1835 to 1848, were early landlords. In 1870 Mrs Ann Branstone was running the pub.

Then in 1877 Robert Monk was the brewer, and his advertising mentions home brewed ales until 1887, although John Mutton may have been at the pub by 1884.

George Mutton was then brewing from 1892 to 1895, followed by William Plant in 1898. The last mention of brewing seems to be in 1913, for Joseph William Monk, presumably having moved from the Bell.

The Sun which stood on the corner of the square was demolished for the construction of Roman Road.
