From the Brewery history Society Journal Number 91

James C Fitzsimmons, Regal Lager Brewery. This is without doubt one of the most interesting and enterprising ventures in the history of the Irish Brewing Industry.

Fitzsimmons, a local master baker, went to study brewing at the Doemans Brewing School in Munich c.1928 and acquired from there a diploma in brewing.

In conjunction with the Miag Group, a small lager brewery was set up in 1937 which traded until 1954. They brewed a pilsner and a bock type lager.
