Established in June 2012.
The Red Lion was formerly owned by Whitbread, and still features a West Country Ales ceramic plaque on the frontage. The Hop Kettle Brewery was established by Tom Gee in 2012 in an outbuilding at the rear of the pub.
 
In 2019 Hop Kettle Brewing Co sold the Red Lion Inn to St Austell Brewery, but kept the 4-barrel microbrewery and continued to produce beers for the pub.
 
The Hop Kettle company opened a new 10-barrel brewery at the Hawksworth Industrial Estate in Swindon in 2015: see [[Hop Kettle Brewery (Swindon)]].

Hop Kettle Brewery, The Red Lion, 74 High Street, Cricklade, Wiltshire SN6 6DD
