Founded c.1797, Gibson family then Beck & Parker.

In 1862 Smith & Foster followed by Lupton Charnock & Co.

Acquired by Thomas Ramsden 1881. Registered January 1894, offices Commercial Street.

Acquired by Allied Breweries in 1964 with 117 tied houses and was closed.
