Phipps Brewery Ltd, 122 Bridge Street, Northampton, Northamptonshire.

Founded 1801 at Towcester by Pickering Phipps.

Brewing began at Northampton in 1817. New brewery built at Towcester 1874 and remained in use until c.1905.

Registered September 1881 as Pickering Phipps & Co (Northampton & Towcester Breweries) Ltd.

In 1899, they acquired the neighbouring Ratliffe & Jeffery Ltd brewery with 135 tied houses.

In 1939 became P Phipps & Co.Ltd.

After the merger with the Northampton Brewery Co. Ltd. in 1957 became Phipps Northampton Brewery Co. Ltd.

Acquired by Watney Mann Ltd. 1960 with 1,171 houses and the name was changed as above in 1964.

Ceased brewing in 1972 and demolished for the Carlsberg Brewery Ltd plant.
