Established c.1840 by John Bowes and run by various members of his family until at least 1898.

Acquired by Leonard Alston Fawsett, late of Findlay's Brewery, Leeds, from Owen Clark in 1902.

Thomas Neville Cheatle by 1912 and Top & Co, by 1922.

Ceased brewing c.1924.
