In 1960, they acquired Ulster Brewery Co. Ltd (Caffrey's) of Belfast; James Aitken & Co (Falkirk) Ltd; and William Murray & Co. Ltd of Duddingston.
They acquired Catterall & Swarbrick of Blackpool with 104 public houses in 1961. This brewery was closed by Bass Charrington in 1971.
In 1962, they acquired Hardy's Crown Brewery Ltd of Hulme, Manchester; this brewery was demolished by Charrington United in 1965.
In October 1962, Northern Breweries became United Breweries Ltd
In 1962 they merged with Charrington & Co. Ltd of Mile End London to form Charrington United Breweries Ltd.
