A merger in March 1960 of:


  • They acquired Catterall & Swarbrick of Blackpool with 104 public houses in 1961. This brewery was closed by Bass Charrington in 1971.
  • In 1962, they acquired Hardy's Crown Brewery Ltd of Hulme, Manchester; this brewery was demolished by Charrington United in 1965.

In 1962 they merged with Charrington & Co. Ltd of Mile End London to form Charrington United Breweries Ltd.
