Founded 1669 by James Pashley and acquired by Mackeson family 1801.
Registered In September 1900. Acquired by H.& G. Simonds Ltd. of Reading 1920 and was sold to Jude, Hanbury & Co. Ltd. 1929, which came under the control of Whitbread & Co. Ltd. The latter used it to brew a famous stout until brewing ceased 3rd May 1968.
Brewery demolished for housing but offices remain in the High Street.
