Brewery History Society Visit to Lymestone Brewery, 12 March 2016

On Saturday 12th March 2016, members of the Brewery History Society descended upon the Lymestone Brewery for an exclusive look around their historic premises. The tour started in the brewery’s pub, The Borehole, where founder and head brewer Ian ‘Brad’ Bradfield shared some of the fascinating history of the site (formerly the famous Bent’s Brewery) and then detailing his own journey from inception to current position within the industry.

An in-depth tour of the site was both informative and entertaining, engaging for both expert and layman alike. Brad was the perfect host making sure that glasses were constantly topped up with a range of his excellent ales. Even stopping to crack open a couple of bottles of the infamous Watermelon Wheat Beer ("No one can understand why it’s clear!").

A fantastic spread greeted the members of the tour back at The Borehole, where presentations were made and Brad was thanked for his excellent hosting. A thoroughly excellent day and one that I hope can be repeated at some point in the future.
