Lane Farm, Lane Road, Wakes Colne, Essex.

In sale particulars for this property in both 1863 and 1883, the brew house and cellar are mentioned. The property is adjacent to Wakes Hall Estate, which in 1863 was in the ownership of Henry and Walter Skingley.

Henry Skingley was born in Coggeshall in 1801 and was a brewer, Henry was his youngest son. The farm had some 66 acres when sold in 1883 by Henry Skingley. Several members of this brewing family who went into farming are buried in family vaults at Wakes Colne churchyard.
