Kings Head, 69 Castle Street, Hinckley, Leicestershire.

In September 1809, Mr Rudd, previously a dealer in Coventry porter with a warehouse in Shamble’s Lane, Leicester, advertised that he had formed a connection with a Mr Ward. This described Ward’s brewery as being some six months in operation.

Although in 1835 Francis Ward was running the Kings Head, there was no mention of his operating as a common brewer.

By 1870 William Topp was at the Kings Head, but by 1875 Mrs Mary Topp was the brewer until at least 1884.

Then from 1887 to 1892 John Topp, presumably their son, listed as the brewer.

The buildings are now used by a locksmith and the brewhouse looks to be still standing at the rear.
