Edward Bate trading here from 1835 to 1876. Registered 28th March 1890 to acquire the business of Thomas Bate trading as the Kelsterton Brewery Co.
Acquired by the Chester Northgate Brewery Ltd. 1899 with 93 public houses. Brewing ceased after 1917. Stable block is now a private house.
