In 1883, the brewery and 19 houses were offered for sale. These were purchased by Thomas Jenner of Jenner's Brewery Ltd brewing family, who completely refitted the brewery.

In 1887, the houses were sold to Greene King & Sons Ltd and the brewery offered for sale as a furniture factory with the strict proviso that it not be used for brewing.
