John George Forryan, King William IV, 7 Bell Street, Wigston Magna, Leicestershire.

From 1848 the pub was run by members of the Goodwin family until 1861. Then in 1870 Edward Murrell was the victualler. The brewer for the period of 1877-84 was John Forryan, who was receiving wine & spirits from the All Saints Brewery.

The Forryan’s, a local family had a farm on the corner of Bell Street and Leicester Road.

In 1889 Isaac Hurst was running the pub, followed by Mrs Caroline Hurst. However, in 1899 the property was included in those owned by the trustees of the Midland Brewery Co. Ltd, Loughborough, which suggests that it was a tied house and brewing had already stopped. The licence was transferred to the Nautical William on Aylestone Road.

The de-licensed property was sold in 1957 to Kingsley Engines and the area is now covered by shops.
