Founded c.1840. Registered April 1896. Acquired by [[Salt & Co. Ltd]]. 1902 and the brewery was leased to [[Magee, Marshall & Co. Ltd]]. of Bolton who brewed there for 2 years. Then the water from the brewery was transported to Bolton until 1909 when they acquired land for their own pumping station.
