John Stephenson opened the converted premises in 1847. Succeeded by Jane Stephenson, his widow, in 1856. Thomas Stephenson recorded 1875 but committed suicide in 1884 and his son James took the licence. In 1895, a brewery company bought the pub for £11,500. The property was demolished c.1965.
