Ironbridge Brewery Co, Bird in Hand, Waterloo Street, Ironbridge, Shropshire.

Acquired by Southams Ltd c.1940 and was later in the hands of Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries Ltd.

Ironbridge Brewery Ltd, Unit 7 Merrythought, The Wharfage, Ironbridge, Shropshire TF8 7NJ.

Set up in April 2008. The brewery was housed in an old foundry building.

In Summer 2014 relocated and rebranded as the Wrekin Brewing Co Ltd at Wellington, but ceased 2016.

John Howard writes:-

Dave Goldingay opened this brewery in 2008 operating a 12 barrel capacity in an old Victorian warehouse. A visitor shop and centre opened in 2009 .This site closed in 2014 when the brewery moved to Wellington ,to a vacant building behind the Pheasant public house in Market St. The brewery building was aided by a grant from the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). There is some lack of clarity when the name of the brewery changed because a photograph of the receipt of the grant from the LEP shows the name of Wrekin Brewery Co. Ltd (beers brewed right here) on the building wall. During his time at the Pheasant, Dave Goldingay started distilling spirit and producing gins, this created an interest he has pursued since leaving Wellington in 2017 at the Ardudwy Distillery in Wales.

The Ironbridge Gold beer was continued to be brewed by the Prestons from Rowton Brewery when they took the Pheasant pub lease over in 2017.
