Charles Hunt was a brewer in 1881. He was born in 1814 in Lowestoft and was a widower by 1881. His son, also Charles, was a grocer and brewer in 1881; he was born in 1845 in Lowestoft. His wife, Elizabeth, was born in 1842 in Barton. They had at least 10 children, all born a year apart. Charles Hunt is listed as a brewer at 5 George St. in 1882 although George St. is probably the address of the grocer's shop. The firm was renamed Hunt and Son c.1889 operating from Priestgate. In 1896 Charles Hunt was a grocer, butcher, farmer, wine and spirit merchant based in George St. By 1900 Hunt and Son had built the Anchor Brewery, Pasture Rd.

The brewery buildings survive.
