Originally '''Howard Town Brewery Ltd'''. Brewing started at Howard Town Mill, Mill Street, Glossop in July 2005 on plant supplied by the [[Porter Brewing Co]]. In April 2006 a fire caused by an electrical fault in a neighbouring outlet destroyed the whole building. By June 2006 they were up and running again in Glossop at Hawkshead Mill.

In 2022, they rebranded as '''Distant Hills Brewing'''.
