Horton Old Brewery Co. Ltd, 131 High Street (later 597 Great Horton Road), Horton, Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Established 1865. Edwin Pickles & Co. bankrupt in 1868.

Samuel Frederick Roberts purchased it in 1873 and died c.1890 though listed 1894 at 185 High Street.

His executor, Ferrand Swithenbank, landlord of the Queen Hotel, took control. He died in 1907 and his son with the identical name carried on until its sale in 1914 to L Boocock who then registered it.

In 1912 Wright Cordingley brewer was at 179 High Street, whilst F Swithenbank was at 181-183.

Ceased brewing 1934. Parts of the buildings were used as a garage.

Edwin Pickles & Co established the premises in 1865 and the business soon fell into financial difficulties.

Samuel Frederick Roberts then took charge. In 1872, the company owned the Queen Hotel, Bridge Street, Nag's Head, Kirkgate, and Nelson, Northgate, all in Bradford. The latter house was managed by Ferrand Swithenbank until the loss of its licence in 1884.

Upon S.F.Roberts death, Ferrand Swithenbank his executor gained control c1890 and he also moved into the former’s residence. By this time the Queen was their only inn. After Ferrand Swithenbank's death in April 1907 the concern was carried on by his executors and son, also called Ferrand, who ran the Queen until its sale in 1914 to Hammonds. The Horton Old Brewery Co. Ltd came into existence in the latter year and also in the same year the firm were refused membership of the Bradford & District Brewer's Association because they had no tied houses. Production appears to have ceased in the mid-thirties.

The Royal Hotel, Great Horton Road, still bears a Horton Old Brewery painted sign.
