Holder's Brewery Ltd, Midland Brewery, Nova Scotia Street, Birmingham, West Midlands

Founded in about 1869-1870 by Henry Holder. In 1875, Holder's son, J C (later Sir John) Holder took over the company.

  • City Brewery Ltd, Saltley, Birmingham, was acquired in 1900 with 40 tied houses.
  • Arthur Price Lewisham Brewery, West Bromwich, was acquired in May 1908 with about 30 tied houses.

Holder's Brewery and over 200 pubs were acquired by Mitchells & Butlers Ltd in 1919 and the brewery was closed in 1923, the year that Sir John Holder died.
