Heavitree Brewery Ltd, 16 Church Street, Heavitree, Exeter, Devon.

Founded in 1790.

Originally Wilcocks & Rewe, but in 1857 was noted in Billings Directory as Heavitree Brewery with Elizabeth Baker as brewer.

Registered in February 1890 to acquire E N Birkett.

The company decided to end brewing in 1970, the directors citing rising costs and a change of public taste - only 45% of the company's pubs took Heavitree beers at the time. After closure, the 135 tied houses were initially supplied by Whitbread.

The brewery was demolished in 1986.

The company retains a pub estate, most of which is in Devon.
