Founded by Henry Cardwell at Cannon Street 1866 and moved to Tithebarn Street 1877. Acquired by Alfred Bertwistle & Sons 1895 and by William Hall & Co. 1900. Registered 1906.

Acquired by Matthew Brown & Co. Ltd. 1920 with 28 tied houses and was closed. Brewery demolished 1964.
