Founded 1840. The Hope Brewery was rebuilt in about 1903. Acquired by Devenish & Co. Ltd in 1960 with 115 public houses.
The coppers and double-drop tun room were preserved as part of the Timewalk visitors exhibition (now closed). However, the site is to be redeveloped for residential use.
