Greene King & Sons Ltd, Westgate Brewery, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

Registered in June 1887 to acquire:

  • E.Greene & Son, Westgate Brewery, Westgate Street. Founded 1799.
  • F.W.King & Son, St.Edmund's Brewery, Westgate Street. Founded 1868.


In 1925, they acquired Bailey & Tebbutt Ltd of Cambridge with 48 houses. This brewery was closed in 1957.

Merged with Rayment & Co. Ltd in 1931. This brewery was closed in 1987.

In 1961, they acquired Wells & Winch Ltd of Biggleswade with 287 public houses. This brewery was closed in 1997.

In 1999, they acquired Morland & Co. Ltd of Abingdon, and this brewery was closed.

In 2005, they acquired Belhaven Brewery Co. Ltd. of Dunbar. This brewery is still brewing.
