Grand Metropolitan Hotels acquired Truman, Hanbury & Buxton & Co. Ltd of Brick Lane, London E1 in 1971.

In 1974, they then acquired Watney Mann Ltd.

In 1986, Ruddles Brewery Ltd of Langham, Rutland, was acquired.

In 1991, Courage & Co.
