At the time of its formation, Inntrepreneur had about 8,450 pubs. Grand Met retained about 990 pubs of their own.

Grand Metropolitan Hotels


Grand Metropolitan Hotels acquired Truman, Hanbury & Buxton & Co. Ltd of Brick Lane, London E1 in 1971.

In 1974, they then acquired Watney Mann Ltd.

In 1986, Ruddles Brewery Ltd of Langham, Rutland, was acquired.

In 1991, Courage & Co. Ltd took over all of the surviving Grand Metropolitan breweries (Ruddles, Ushers, Websters and Watney Mortlake) in exchange for the Courage public houses which were run by a jointly owned company, Inntrepreneur Estates. At the time of its formation, Inntrepreneur had about 8,450 pubs. Grand Met retained about 990 pubs of their own.
