Gibbs, Mew & Co. Ltd, Anchor Brewery, Gigant Street, Salisbury, Wiltshire

Founded at the Swan, Haslemere, Surrey c.1750. George Bridger Gibbs became a partner in Fawcett's Brewery 1838 and moved to the Anchor Brewery, Salisbury in 1858. Registered in May 1898 to acquire Bridger Gibbs & Son and Herbert Mew's brewery. They also acquired William Rossiter (Bath)'s Royal Oak Brewery.

In June 1960, they bought Lancashire Clubs Federation Brewery Ltd to produce keg beer for Northern clubs. In 1994, they bought the PubCo Centric Inns. This added Centric's 197 pubs to Gibbs' 121 pubs at the time.

In 1997, they closed their Salisbury brewery and became a PubCo themselves. Gibbs Mew beers were initially brewed by Ushers of Trowbridge. In 2011, the company with its 310 tied houses was sold to Enterprise Inns. Some buildings remain, but most of the brewery site has been redeveloped.
