George Shaw & Co. Ltd, Leigh Brewery, 31 Brewery Lane, Leigh, Greater Manchester.

Founded 1801, involving Richard Guest of Bedford house.

Registered October 1866 as the Bedford Brewing & Malting Co. Ltd to acquire the business of R. Guest.

New brewery in 1872, but this may refer to Brown Street, Atherton, which was for sale 1878.

Leigh & Bedford Brewery and Malting registered 18th September 1878, then acquired by Shaw family.

Name changed 20th January 1902 and new brewhouse created June 1903.

Acquired by Walker Cain Ltd. with c.300 houses in 1931. Brewery plant for sale in March 1933.

Premises demolished early 2000s.
