Founded by Joseph Kingsley c.1835 and was under various names including Henry Kingsley for 35 years until put up for auction July 1892. Pryor, Reid bought the public houses, but the brewery was not sold and stood empty for 2 years. Owned by [[Hornsey & Co]]. by 1899. Registered as the Hertfordshire Brewery Co. Ltd 27th June 1900 to acquire [[Hornsey & Co]].

Offered for auction January 1901 with 2 public houses: The Greyhound, Kimpton and the Plough Inn, Egginton and was bought by Brass & Abbott. They sold it to George Chalkley in 1904 and was closed c.1911 and converted into a laundry. Has recently been used as an arts centre.
