The plaque reads:
'THE ABOVE CLOCK WHICH FORMERLY HUNG OVER THE ENTRANCE TO JOULES BREWERY, STONE, WAS PRESENTED TO THE TOWN BY BASS WORTHINGTON AND RESTORED BY STONE TOWN COUNCIL AS A PERMANENT REMINDER OF THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BREWING INDUSTRY IN STONE FROM THE 12TH CENTURY UNTIL 31ST OCTOBER 1972 WHEN THE LAST BREWERY (JOULES) CLOSED. THE CLOCK NOW HANGS ABOVE THE OLD RETAIL SHOP OF THE BREWERY FORMERLY CALLED JOULES OF STONE'.
