The small village of Radwinter had a brewhouse as part of the village shop, situated on the hill near to the Pant stream. In the 1871 census, Isabella White, a widow aged 57, was a grocer, and her son Allen was listed as aged 21, a brewer and baker.

Isabella's husband, Thomas, had previously been recorded in 1862 as a beer retailer and shopkeeper, his daughter Harriett White, trading as a draper.

From at least 1888 to 1904, Edwin Newall was a brewer, with Harriett Newall brewing from 1905 to 1909. Edwin had been recorded in 1902 as grocer, farmer and brewer. By 1910 the title was H.Newall and Sons, carrying on the three trades until 1912. After this date there is no further reference to brewing, Harry and Allen Newall being farmers only at Little Brookalls. Edwin Newall died on the 1st November, 1904 and in his will of 1905 probate of his estate valued at £3741-12s-4d to his wife Harriett.

It is possible that Edwin Newall married Harriett White, widow and thereby came into the brewing business at Radwinter. After brewing ceased, the premises opposite the church continued as a public house, post office and village shop.
