Edmund Fox of Underhill Farm, inherited the Shearbridge beerhouse before commencing brewing.

He had a brewhouse built in 1875(40) and his brewer, William Vollans, lived on Hollingwood Lane.

The concern lasted until 1891 when their four tied houses were purchased by Kay & Whittaker Ltd.
