Summer Hall Brewery closed in 1911 and Edinburgh and Leith Brewery and Palace Brewery believed closed 1914-18 to conserve supplies. Bell's Brewery closed down in 1935 by Customs & Excise due to brewing irregularities and was acquired by [[John Jeffrey & Co. Ltd]].
