The 1874 Kelly's Directory lists John T. Pilgrim trading under his full name, both as a farmer maltster and brewer, again in 1892. He died in 1899 upon which the concern was known as Exors. of John Thomas Pilgrim, trading as such until 1910.

Following this date his family continued to trade as E & H. Pilgrim until the business was taken over by the Cambridge brewers, Dale & Co Ltd, in August, 1913, the sale price was £2,750.

The brewery was closed down and later used as a maltings, finally being sold for use as an umbrella factory. The brewery and malting formed a quadrangle with the only tied public house, the tap house, now called The Maltings used as a private residence.
