- John Mercer Ltd, Plough Brewery, Adlington was taken over in March 1929. Brewing ceased 1936.
- They acquired the Kirkstall Brewery Co Ltd of Leeds in 1936 with 83 public houses, although Kirkstall Brewery was later sold to Whitbread.
- Richard Seed & Co. Ltd of Radcliffe was acquired in 1938 with 60 houses and brewing ceased.
- They acquired J.Hamer Ltd of Bromley Croass in 1951 with 42 tied houses.
- Crown Brewing Co. Ltd (Bury) was acquired in 1959 with 127 public houses and brewing ceased.
