Founded before 1780 and acquired by John Day 1814.
Offered for auction October 1919 with 61 tied houses after the death of Frank Day, the last of the family. Brewery and 42 houses bought by Wells & Winch Ltd. for £40,000. Shortly afterwards half of the houses were sold to Charles Wells Ltd.
Oast house still standing as part of the Priory Centre..
