Davis'es Brewing Company Ltd, The Grainstore Brewery, Station Approach, Oakham, Rutland LE15 6RE

Set up in a derelict Victorian railway building, the Tap Room opened early in 1995, initially with a range of guest beers. Brewing started in November 1995 by Tony and Mike Davis. The former had some 30 years experience in brewing, including time at Charles Wells Ltd, before ending up as the Production Director and Head Brewer at Ruddles Brewery Ltd for 16 years. Tony’s assistant brewer was Jamie Ramshaw.

The brewery has a 15 barrel plant, with a weekly capacity of 45 barrels. In addition to the Brewery Tap, they supply about 60 outlets within 40 miles of the brewery. The main beers are:-

  • Cooking Bitter 3.6% Ten Fifty 5%
  • Triple B 4.2%
  • A bottled beer - Best Man Bitter - has also been produced.

The Triple B is also known as Bunny Brown, after a previous manager of Morris’ Rutland Brewery, who was so called because he would give a bun to any child who held his horse whilst he was visiting the brewery’s estate.

The range also includes Tupping Ale 4.2%, brewed especially for the British Charolais Sheep Society.
