Crowley & Co. Ltd, Turk Street, Alton, Hampshire.

Founded by James Baverstock 1763. The Crowley family brewed at Waddon since 1600 and acquired their Croydon brewery in 1808. They bought the Alton brewery in 1821. Sold to the Burrell family 1877 but continued trading as Crowley & Co.

They acquired Bell & Son, Itchen Brewery in 1889 and probably closed that brewery, which had suffered a disastrous fire.

Registered in 1901.

Acquired by Watney, Combe, Reid & Co. Ltd in 1947 with 248 public houses and brewing ceased in August 1970. Used as a depot until 1980s.

For the Croydon brewery, see: A C S & H Crowley (Croydon).
