G E Cook & Sons Ltd, Tidings Hill Brewery, Halstead, Essex.

Founded 1885 at the Griffin, Parsonage Lane, with the Tidings Hill Brewery being built in 1908.

Brewing ceased at the Griffin site in 1913. Registered in 1961. No tied houses but owned off-licences.

Brewery closed October 1974 but some remains are visible.

Cook Brothers, Mersea Road Brewery, 17 Mersea Road, Colchester, Essex.

Listed here in 1913, possibly as a replacement for the closed Griffin site at Halstead, although the family had already built a new brewery there.

Halstead may have supplied this as a depot. It was listed as a separate concern until 1937.

Brewers’ Guardian 1938 states A W & H L Cook, 17 Mersea Road retiring.
