Cobbold & Co. Ltd, Cliff Brewery, Cliff Road , Ipswich , Suffolk .

Founded at Harwich 1723 by Thomas Cobbold and moved to Ipswich 1746. Registered March 1924. 236 tied houses.

Merged with Tollemache's Breweries Ltd. 1957 to form Tollemache & Cobbold Breweries Ltd. owning 370 tied houses.

Acquired by Ellerman Shipping Lines 1977 which was acquired by Barclay Brothers 1983. Brewing ceased 1989. The brewery then re-opened after a management buy-out, but closed in 2003 when bought by Ridleys.
