Cobbold & Co. Ltd, Cliff Brewery, Cliff Road, Ipswich, Suffolk.

Founded at Harwich 1723 by Thomas Cobbold and moved to Ipswich 1746. Registered March 1924. 236 tied houses.

Merged with Tollemache's Breweries Ltd. 1957 to form Tollemache & Cobbold Breweries Ltd. owning 370 tied houses.

Acquired by Ellerman Shipping Lines 1977 which was acquired by Barclay Brothers 1983. Brewing ceased 1989. The brewery then re-opened after a management buy-out, but closed in 2003 when bought by Ridley & Sons Ltd.
