Charrington United Breweries Ltd
The outcome of a merger in 1962 between:
- United Breweries Ltd (formerly Northern Breweries of Great Britain Ltd).
Takever and closure trail:
- J & R Tennent Ltd of Glasgow were acquired in 1963 with 240 pubs.
- They closed Kemp Town Brewery Ltd (Brighton) in 1964.
- They closed the brewery of Brutton, Mitchell, Toms Ltd of Yeovil in 1965.
- Woodhead's Brewery Ltd, South London Brewery, Southwark Bridge Road London SE1 was acquired in 1965 and was closed.
- Hardy's Crown Brewery Ltd was closed and demolished by Charrington United in 1965.
- In 1965, they acquired Offiler's Brewery Ltd of Derby with 238 houses and closed it on 30th September 1966.
- They acquired Randall, Gibbons, Ingold & Co. of Dunmow, Essex in 1965 with 50 houses and closed the brewery. Brewery demolished by Bass Charrington in 1975.
- Massey's Burnley Brewery Ltd was acquired in 1966 with 312 houses. Brewing ceased in 1974.
The company merged in 1967 with Bass, Mitchells & Butlers Ltd to form Bass Charrington Ltd.
