The outcome of a merger in 1962 between:


Takever and closure trail:

  • J & R Tennent Ltd of Glasgow were acquired in 1963 with 240 pubs.
  • Woodhead's Brewery Ltd, South London Brewery, Southwark Bridge Road London SE1 was acquired in 1965 and was closed.
  • In 1965, they acquired Offiler's Brewery Ltd of Derby with 238 houses and closed it on 30th September 1966.
  • They acquired Randall, Gibbons, Ingold & Co. of Dunmow, Essex in 1965 with 50 houses and closed the brewery. Brewery demolished by Bass Charrington in 1975.


The company merged in 1967 with Bass, Mitchells & Butlers Ltd to form Bass Charrington Ltd.
