Charrington United Breweries Ltd

The outcome of a merger in 1962 between:


They closed the brewery of Brutton, Mitchell, Toms Ltd of Yeovil in 1965.

Woodhead's Brewery Ltd, Canonbury Brewery, London N1 was acquired in 1965.

Hardy's Crown Brewery Ltd was closed and demolished by Charrington United in 1965.

In 1965, they acquired Offiler's Brewery Ltd of Derby with 238 houses and closed it on 30th September 1966.

They acquired Randall, Gibbons, Ingold & Co. of Dunmow, Essex in 1965 with 50 houses and closed the brewery. Brewery demolished by Bass Charrington in 1975.

Massey's Burnley Brewery Ltd was acquired in 1966 with 312 houses. Brewing ceased in 1974.


The company merged in 1967 with Bass, Mitchells & Butlers Ltd to form Bass Charrington Ltd.
