Butcombe Brewery was founded in September 1978 by former Courage executive Simon Whitmore. The brewery was originally located at Rusling House, Butcombe, Somerset. Sold to Beer Seller founders in 2003 following Simon’s retirement. In 2005 the brewery moved to larger premises in Wrington.
In 2015, the brewery was acquired by the Liberation Group (Jersey) (See [[Jersey and Tipsy Toad Brewery]]).
They have a growing tied pub estate in the south-west. The company also has a wholly owned subsidiary, the Long Ashton Cider Company.
