Brett Brothers, City Brewery, Church Lane, Low Ousegate, York, North Yorkshire.

Founded in 1859 by E P Brett, who converted a former oil cake mill and chemist's warehouse into a brewery.

Traded as Brett Brothers from 1869. Acquired by John J. Hunt Ltd. 1897 with 12 freehold and 3 leasehold pubs for £74,000.

Brewing ceased, but the buildings were subsequently used by Hunt's as offices and stores, and still survive.
