Betsy Markham, Pine Apple, 16 Archdeacon Lane, Leicester, Leicestershire.

In 1835 Matthew Green was the victualler at the pub. In August 1869 the licence was held by Joseph Markham, who was listed as the brewer for 1877 to 1887. However, in February 1884, the licence was transferred to Mrs Betsy Markham and she was identified as the brewer for 1892-1906 (F2719).

In May 1906, it was transferred to Joseph T Markham who was in the 1910 directory as the brewer. However, in February 1913, the licence went to Julia Sybilla Markham. There is a suggestion that in 1913 it was sold by LB&M, one assumes that they had bought it from the family, but then sold it on. There also seems to have been some involvement with Hole & Co. Ltd of Newark.

Nevertheless, in July 1914, it then went to John J Hull, who was recorded as brewing until 1920. When it closed in 1939 for a new pub on the corner of Grafton Place, Burley’s Lane, it was owned by Hole & Co. Ltd.
